What Was Eartha Kitt's First Film?

Eartha Kitt's film debut was Casbah, released in 1948, in which she is uncredited. The Katherine Dunham dancers had been hired for the film, and Katherine Dunham and Eartha had connived with director John Berry to give Eartha a line. She has a line, at the end of a prominent dance sequence. However, the sound was apparently lost, so Eartha is seen saying something but without any sound.

Was Eartha Kitt The Original Catwoman?

Eartha Kitt was the second Catwoman on the original 1960s Batman series. She replaced Julie Newmar, who was shooting a film and unable to take the role in the 1967 season. Eartha Kitt's joining the cast came with some controversy, as there had always been sexual tension between Catwoman and Batman, but in the 1960s, hints at an interracial love affair could not be tolerated by the studios. Therefore, the flirtation between Catwoman and Batman was removed from the scripts.

Who Was Eartha Kitt's Father?

Eartha Kitt never knew who her father was, though there is much speculation that he was a relatively wealthy white landowner in South Carolina. At the time she was born, it was illegal for the father of an illegitimate child to be revealed, and Eartha spent her life wondering who he was. Later in life, she pursued the issue through the court, but the court refused to reveal the father's name.

Was Eartha Kitt In Any James Bond Movie?

Unfortunately, Eartha Kitt was never in a James Bond movie. She was in the first season of I Spy, in the episode entitled "The Loser" - for which she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series or Movie. She would have done well as a Bond villainess!

Eartha Kitt was married to William MacDonald, a Korean War veteran, on .June 6, 1960. They had one child, a daughter Eartha named Kitt (currently Kitt Shapiro), born November 26, 1961. Eartha and William MaDonald were divorced in 1965. Eartha Kitt had no other marriages.
